The FI&Z system combines rugged reliability, precision, and the most capable focus assist available: The Light Ranger 2.

Common to all of the FI&Z units is the G4 wireless link. It provides the robust data backbone that links together the hand controls, motor drivers, and Light Ranger2 Video Interface.

The new HU4 hand control brings a large, sunlight-readable display together with remarkable functionality. Among its features, the focus scale can be expanded or squeezed with finger touch, non-linear iris scales are mapped to a linear scale, and the ergonomic hand grip contains switches and a joystick to fully control the Light Ranger 2. The touch panel display allows for setting up lens calibrations with remarkable speed. Like its predecessor, the HU3, careful attention has been paid to protecting the HU4 from environmental hazards.

The MDR3 and MDR4 motor drivers are made to survive under harsh production conditions while delivering rock-solid performance. They drive the full range of Digital Motors as well as acting as the wireless hub for the system, exchanging data between the hand controls and Light Ranger 2 as well as controlling camera functions.

Three Digital Motors satisfy the range of drive requirements from the largest zoom to the smallest prime. The motors all use hardened steel gears coated with diamond-like carbon to achieve very long operating life while maintaining minimum backlash.
